The codeshare agreement, effective from May 23, is anticipated to have far-reaching implications for both India and Japan. It is poised to stimulate passenger traffic for Air India and ANA, driving growth in their respective passenger businesses. Moreover, by offering increased flexibility and convenience to travelers, the alliance is set to strengthen aviation ties between the two nations, thereby enhancing the overall flying experience.

With the codeshare in place, passengers can seamlessly travel to their desired destinations by combining flights between India and Japan with a single ticket. Specifically, Air India will apply its ‘AI’ designator code on ANA flights between Tokyo Haneda and Delhi, as well as Tokyo Narita and Mumbai. Conversely, ANA will utilize its ‘NH’ designator code on Air India’s flight between Tokyo Narita and Delhi.

This strategic partnership reflects Air India’s commitment to expanding its global presence, with codeshare agreements now in place with 15 airlines, including ANA. Both carriers are exploring opportunities to further expand their cooperation on additional routes, offering passengers even more travel options in the future.
