Sanad, a Mubadala-backed aerospace engineering and leasing solutions provider, has entered into an agreement with Airbus to deliver maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) services for engines powering various Airbus aircraft.

This partnership focuses on engines for Airbus single-aisle models like the A320 and A321, as well as wide-body aircraft, including the A330. The engines covered under this agreement include the Rolls Royce Trent 700, International Aero Engines V2500-A5, and CFM LEAP-1A.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, Head of UAE Clusters at Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, stated, “The agreement with Airbus is an extension of Sanad’s longstanding strategic alliances with the world’s leading aerospace companies.” He emphasized that this partnership reflects global confidence in Sanad’s engineering and technical expertise, positioning the company as a significant player in the aviation sector from its Abu Dhabi base.

The formalization of this agreement took place at the Farnborough International Airshow. Present at the signing were Ali Abdulla, Sanad Group Chairman Amer Siddiqui, and Airbus Africa and Middle East President Mikail Houari.

Mansoor Janahi, Sanad’s Managing Director and Group CEO, remarked, “This agreement underscores our commitment to delivering world-class MRO services and solidifies our position as a trusted partner in the aerospace industry.”

Sanad is renowned as one of the largest independent service providers of Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines globally. Additionally, it operates the only V2500 full overhaul shop in the Middle East and is the first and only non-OEM LEAP Engine MRO center in the SAMENA region.

Earlier this year, Sanad extended a $145 million MRO contract with Asiana Airlines, covering the maintenance of 30 percent of the V2500 engine fleet powering the South Korean airline’s Airbus A321 aircraft.
