Saudi Arabia has taken a major step toward strengthening its general aviation sector with the launch of a new airport in Malham, just 70 kilometers north of Riyadh. The facility, spanning 140,000 square meters, is specifically designated for general aviation operations and is set to handle over 25,000 flights annually.
Strategically located in a region quickly gaining recognition for hosting high-profile international events such as the World Defense Show and the LEAP tech conference, Malham Airport is poised to support the area’s rapid development as a global business and innovation hub.
The airport is expected to serve private jet owners, business aviation companies, and various aviation service providers. It will feature an integrated environment tailored to the needs of private and corporate aviation, reinforcing Riyadh’s status as a key regional and international aviation center.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s National Aviation Strategy, which aims to enhance general aviation by increasing operator numbers, expanding service availability, supporting local MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) industries, and boosting the sector’s economic contribution.
