Dubai Airports plans to increase Dubai International Airport’s capacity to 120 million passengers annually through infrastructure upgrades, new partnerships, and advanced technology projects, ensuring it remains the world’s leading airport.
Dubai Airports is gearing up to enhance and expand Dubai International Airport (DXB), targeting an annual passenger capacity of 120 million. CEO Paul Griffiths announced plans to invest in the airport’s development, focusing on infrastructure upgrades and advanced technology projects to maintain its status as the world’s leading airport.
Key projects include expanding capacity, forming new commercial partnerships, adding more lounges, increasing transportation spaces, and rearranging remote gate locations. These enhancements aim to transform DXB into a fully smart airport, improving passenger flow at all touchpoints.
Griffiths emphasized that the strategic goal is to exceed guest expectations at DXB while concurrently developing Al Maktoum International Airport as the airport of the future. The investments will ensure Dubai International’s continued dominance, as it served 87 million passengers in 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Dubai Airports is also prioritizing sustainability in its expansion plans. The new developments will incorporate eco-friendly technologies and practices to reduce the environmental impact of airport operations. This includes energy-efficient systems, waste reduction initiatives, and increased use of renewable energy sources. The goal is to set a benchmark for sustainable airport operations globally.
Moreover, the airport will see significant enhancements in passenger amenities. Plans include the introduction of more diverse dining and retail options, state-of-the-art lounges, and enhanced transportation facilities. These improvements aim to provide passengers with a seamless and enjoyable travel experience, solidifying DXB’s reputation as a premier global hub.
Additionally, the investment in DXB is part of a broader strategy to support Dubai’s vision of becoming a global aviation and tourism leader. By significantly increasing its capacity and modernizing its facilities, Dubai Airports is poised to accommodate the growing influx of international travelers, further boosting the city’s economy and reinforcing its position as a key player in the global travel industry.
