Air India Unveils First A320neo in New Livery, Adds Premium Economy
Air India celebrates a major milestone with the arrival of its first Airbus A320neo in new livery, featuring a three-class configuration and introducing Premium Economy on narrowbody aircraft.
Air India has reached a significant milestone in its modernization efforts with the arrival of its first Airbus A320neo in new livery. The aircraft, registered as VT-RTN, landed at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on July 7, after flying from the Airbus manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France.
The new A320neo is set to begin operations in August 2024, enhancing Air India’s domestic short-haul network. This addition reflects the airline’s strategic focus on upgrading and expanding its fleet to provide a superior passenger experience.
Currently, Air India operates three A320neo aircraft with the previous livery on domestic routes. The airline plans to continue its fleet enhancement with the introduction of new, upgraded, and refurbished aircraft in both narrowbody and widebody categories, starting early next year.
This fleet renewal underscores Air India’s commitment to improving comfort, efficiency, and service quality for its passengers, marking a new chapter in the airline’s evolution.
This A320neo is the first narrowbody aircraft in Air India’s fleet to feature a three-class configuration, offering 8 luxurious Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats with extra legroom, and 132 comfortable Economy Class seats. The introduction of Premium Economy on narrowbody planes is a pioneering move for the airline.
The airline’s focus on fleet modernization is part of a comprehensive strategy to rejuvenate its brand and expand its market presence. As Air India rolls out more aircraft with upgraded features, passengers can anticipate a consistent and elevated travel experience. These efforts are part of a larger initiative to reclaim Air India’s position as a leading airline, providing world-class service and comfort to its passengers across all classes.
