A Saudi Airlines flight arriving from Riyadh experienced a frightening incident as its landing gear caught fire during touchdown at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed that quick action by air traffic controllers and fire services averted a potential disaster.

Smoke and sparks were spotted by air traffic controllers as the aircraft landed, leading them to alert the pilots and fire and rescue services. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames on the left-hand side landing gear.

“The fire tenders acted in time and immediately controlled the fire in the landing gear, saving the aircraft from a major accident,” a CAA spokesperson said. All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated using an inflatable slide.
