Alpine Air Express Orders 75 Hybrid-Electric Aircraft from AURA AERO

Alpine Air Express has committed to purchasing up to 75 ERA hybrid-electric aircraft from AURA AERO, aiming to enhance efficiency and sustainability in regional air cargo operations.

Alpine Air Express, a prominent U.S. regional air cargo carrier, has signed a Letter of Intent with French aircraft manufacturer AURA AERO for the purchase of up to 75 ERA hybrid-electric regional transport aircraft, slated for service by 2030.

Operating from Provo, Utah, Alpine Air Express manages over 100 daily flights across the U.S., providing last-mile delivery services for major clients like UPS, Amazon, and the United States Postal Service. Currently boasting a fleet of more than 80 aircraft, Alpine aims to leverage ERA’s cutting-edge technology to decarbonize operations and enhance efficiency.

The ERA aircraft, equipped with a wide, full-opening cargo door, offers an ideal balance of volume and payload. This new addition promises to cut maintenance and energy costs by over 50% per ton of cargo compared to older models, making it a game-changer in the cargo industry.

Drew McEwen, Chief Commercial Officer of AURA AERO, highlighted ERA’s advantages, stating, “ERA’s lower operating costs, optimized payload for short-haul freight, and advanced safety features make it a standout in the cargo market.”

Following a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2023, this new agreement further solidifies the partnership between AURA AERO and Alpine Air Express. The ERA aircraft, with over 570 units ordered, is poised to redefine regional air cargo with its green technology and operational efficiency.

Jérémy Caussade, CEO and co-founder of AURA AERO, expressed confidence in ERA’s impact, stating, “This order reaffirms ERA’s potential in delivering environmental sustainability and cost efficiency.”
