Airbus Expansion in Malaysia Fuels Green Aviation Future
Airbus is expanding its operations in Malaysia, focusing on sustainability and green aviation. With new opportunities for local companies in Airbus’s global supply chain, Malaysia is set to become a key player in the future of aviation.
Airbus is set to expand its operations and sourcing in Malaysia, strengthening its commitment to sustainability and green aviation. Malaysia’s Ambassador to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, shared that Malaysia is poised to play a crucial role in Airbus’s decarbonization efforts, offering new opportunities for local companies to join the aircraft manufacturer’s global supply chain.
The ambassador revealed that Malaysia is the third-ranked market for Airbus in the Asia-Pacific region, following China and India. With over 50 Malaysian companies already integrated into Airbus’s supplier network, including Composites Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), Spirit Aerosystems Malaysia, and SME Aerospace, this expansion further enhances Malaysia’s presence in the global aerospace industry.
Airbus currently has over 280 aircraft in service with Malaysian carriers and close to 400 more on order for future deliveries. Local airlines like Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia are set to benefit from the expansion, with several Airbus aircraft expected for delivery soon, including the A330neo and A321neo models.
Malaysia Airlines is also expanding its route to Paris, with direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Charles de Gaulle Airport starting in March 2025. The ambassador expects this move to enhance connectivity and promote increased business flow between Malaysia and France.
