Direct Flights from Sharjah to Maldives Launched with Daily Service
Sharjah Airport and Air Arabia have launched a new daily direct route from Sharjah to the Maldives, opening new travel and tourism opportunities between the UAE and the Maldives.
Sharjah Airport, in collaboration with Air Arabia, has introduced its first direct flight route connecting Sharjah to the Maldives. The new service, which officially began on October 27, offers daily flights between Sharjah Airport and Velana International Airport in Malé, Maldives, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft.
This new route marks a significant development in travel options, providing UAE travelers with a seamless connection to one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. According to Ali Salim Al Midfa, chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), the route not only reinforces the airport’s expanding role in regional aviation but also strengthens economic and tourism ties between the UAE and the Maldives. He noted that the addition will bring economic and commercial cooperation to new levels.
Adel Al Ali, Air Arabia’s group CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, describing it as an exciting chapter in Air Arabia’s network expansion. “This direct service allows travelers convenient access to the Maldives’ tropical paradise, combining affordability with new exploration opportunities,” he said.
Sharjah Airport is actively working to increase its capacity to 25 million passengers, a plan that includes adding new destinations and strengthening partnerships with international airlines. With this latest route, Sharjah continues to expand its presence on the international travel scene, enhancing options for passengers.
The inaugural flight ceremony was attended by Mr. Hassaan Waheed, the deputy ambassador of the Maldives to the UAE, as well as senior officials from Sharjah Airport Authority and Air Arabia.
