$5B Low-Carbon Aviation Fuel Plant to Transform Moorhead
DG Fuels plans to build a $5 billion low-carbon aviation fuel plant in Moorhead, Minnesota, set to create 650 jobs and reduce carbon emissions in aviation.
DG Fuels, a company focused on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art $5 billion plant in Moorhead, Minnesota. The facility will produce 193 million gallons of SAF annually, designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector. With production slated to begin by 2030, the plant is expected to create approximately 650 jobs for the region.
DG Fuels’ innovative manufacturing process will utilize cellulosic biomass, such as corn stover and timber waste, as well as clean hydrogen feedstock to produce fuel with near-zero carbon emissions. This groundbreaking approach aims to have minimal environmental impact while boosting economic opportunities for agricultural communities and farmers.
Michael C. Darcy, CEO of DG Fuels, emphasized that the plant’s technology will minimize environmental emissions and offer a sustainable alternative to traditional aviation fuel. Minnesota state Senator Rob Kupec also expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to drive economic growth while advancing sustainability in the aviation industry.
