The dream of flying cars has taken a giant leap closer to reality, with XPeng Aeroht unveiling its innovative Land Aircraft Carrier during a public piloted flight at the Guangzhou International Auto Show. This landmark demonstration showcased the company’s commitment to making safe and intelligent electric flying cars accessible to individuals.

Piloted by XPeng Aeroht’s founder, Zhao Deli, the event highlighted the car’s transformative modular design. The Land Aircraft Carrier consists of two components: a ground-based 6×6 Mothership, designed as a versatile van, and a detachable Aircraft module. The Aircraft, a six-rotor electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) unit, can seat two passengers, boasts panoramic 270-degree windows, and supports manual and autonomous flying modes.

During the demonstration, the Aircraft module separated from the Mothership, unfolded its propellers, and performed an impressive series of maneuvers, including vertical takeoffs, turns, and reattachment to the land module.

XPeng Aeroht is now gearing up for mass production, with a large manufacturing facility in Guangzhou set to produce up to 10,000 units annually. Pre-sales are planned for late 2024, with deliveries starting in 2026. The Land Aircraft Carrier, priced at 2 million yuan ($277,390), has already garnered significant interest, with over 2,000 confirmed orders.

Beyond personal use, XPeng Aeroht envisions diverse applications, including medical rescues and high-rise evacuations. Meanwhile, the company is developing another futuristic flying vehicle, the X5, designed for intercity travel with a capacity for six passengers and speeds up to 224 mph.
