Heart Aerospace, a pioneering Swedish aviation company, is set to make history with the maiden flight of its all-electric demonstration aircraft, the Heart Experimental 1 (Heart X1), in 2025. This cutting-edge aircraft mirrors the design and size of the company’s future 30-seater commercial plane, the ES-30, which features an impressive 32-meter wingspan.

The inaugural flight is scheduled to take off from Plattsburgh International Airport in New York, a hub known for its ideal conditions for aviation testing and innovation. While the X1’s exact range remains undisclosed, the ES-30 is expected to have a zero-emission range of 124 miles (200 km) and could extend to 250 miles (400 km) using a hybrid system.

Engineered for efficiency, the ES-30 will be capable of operating on runways as short as 1,100 meters, supported by high-torque electric motors and turbo propellers. This strategic focus on smaller regional airports, or “pocket airports,” allows Heart to fill a niche market rather than compete directly with major airlines.

Heart Aerospace emphasized the rigorous testing underway for the X1 to ensure safety and performance. Looking ahead, the company plans to incorporate the X1’s technological advancements into the X2, which will test hybrid propulsion systems in 2026, setting the stage for the ES-30’s commercial debut in 2028.
