Fly91 Takes Flight: India’s Answer to Domestic Connectivity
In a bid to alleviate congestion and enhance connectivity in India’s bustling aviation sector, the nation welcomes its latest domestic airline, Fly91. Led by the Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Fly91 embarks on its journey with a symbolic inaugural flight from the vibrant tourist hotspot of Goa to the pristine Lakshadweep islands.
Scheduled to commence commercial operations from March 18, Fly91 aims to streamline connecting traffic for arriving tourists and visitors across various Indian cities. The airline’s maiden routes include flights between Goa and Hyderabad, Bangalore, as well as Sindhudurg in Maharashtra state, bridging the gap between key destinations.
Minister Scindia emphasizes the government’s commitment to enhancing air connectivity, particularly to tier 2 and tier 3 cities, anticipating a surge in domestic passenger traffic to 300 million by 2030. With domestic passenger numbers skyrocketing from a mere 60 million a decade ago, Fly91 emerges as a vital player in accommodating this exponential growth.
Fly91’s strategic expansion plans encompass adding cities like Pune, Jalgaon, and Nanded to its network, promising relief from seat shortages, particularly during peak holiday seasons. Focusing primarily on short-haul flights spanning 45 to 90 minutes, the airline aims to optimize travel efficiency and convenience for passengers traversing the Indian skies.
