New Private Airline “Fly Dhaka Airlines” Set to Launch in November

In an exciting development for Bangladesh’s aviation industry, Fly Dhaka Airlines is gearing up to make its debut as the country’s newest private airline operator by November this year. Led by Lt General (retd) Molla Fazle Akbar as the Chief Executive Officer, the airline aims to prioritize safe and affordable travel for passengers.

Fazle Akbar emphasized the airline’s commitment to safety and affordability, stating that Fly Dhaka has already secured its aircraft and is actively working on obtaining the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC). Additionally, the airline is in the process of recruiting personnel to ensure smooth operations.

“Our vision extends beyond establishing a strong presence in the domestic market; we aspire to expand our reach globally,” Fazle Akbar stated, highlighting ongoing negotiations with a major Asian airline.

Fly Dhaka Airlines plans to initiate its services on domestic routes using the ATR 72-600 model aircraft. For international operations, the airline intends to introduce Airbus or Boeing aircraft, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and reliability.

The owner of Fly Dhaka Airlines is Anisul Islam Mahmud, a prominent Jatiya Party lawmaker and businessman. According to regulations, the airline will be eligible to operate international flights after one year of operating domestic routes.

Despite past challenges faced by private airlines in Bangladesh, Fly Dhaka’s entry marks a significant addition to the industry. With its launch, the total number of private airlines operating in the country will rise to four, alongside Novo Air, US-Bangla Airlines, and Air Astra.
