Abu Dhabi’s Ambitious Tourism Strategy Set to Create 178,000 New Jobs

In a landmark decision, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, presided over a meeting where the Abu Dhabi Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 was approved. This visionary strategy aims to catapult Abu Dhabi into a premier global tourism destination, with ambitious targets including attracting 39.3 million visitors and generating 178,000 new jobs by 2030.

Under Sheikh Khaled’s leadership, the council hailed the exceptional performance of the tourism sector in 2023, witnessing a remarkable surge with over 24 million visitors, marking a significant 30% increase from the previous year. This surge in tourism activity contributed AED49 billion to the emirate’s GDP, emphasizing its growing prominence in the global tourism landscape.

The approved strategy not only underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainable development but also seeks to foster talent within the tourism sector, aligning with the objectives of Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030. Emphasizing collaboration with the private sector, the strategy will facilitate investment through incentive initiatives and streamline regulatory procedures to ensure sustainable growth.
