“Discover the Nighttime Magic: Da Lat – Trai Mat Railway”

The recent launch of night services on the Da Lat – Trai Mat railway promises a novel experience for travelers seeking to explore Da Lat after dark. This new tourism offering has quickly gained traction, especially during the three-day period from April 11 to 13, when complimentary tickets were offered.

Covering a distance of nearly 7 km, the route not only showcases the nighttime charm of Da Lat but also offers unique amenities such as buffet meals and live music aboard two carriages boasting a blend of classical and contemporary designs.

This railway segment represents the remaining stretch of the historic 84 km Thap Cham – Da Lat railway, constructed during the French colonial era and inaugurated in 1932 to link the south-central province of Ninh Thuan with Lam Dong, home to Da Lat.

Before embarking on their journey, passengers can explore Da Lat Station, a distinctive architectural marvel inspired by Langbiang Mountain and the traditional “Rong” houses typical of the Central Highlands in Vietnam, making it a perfect spot for memorable check-in photos.

Dao Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Railway Transport JSC, highlighted that in 2023, significant enhancements were made by the Vietnam Railway Corporation to Da Lat Station, recognized as a national historical landmark, as well as to the train carriages and the Da Lat – Trai Mat railway line.

The addition of live music, complimentary Wi-Fi, and even wedding services on this route further enhance its appeal to visitors, Tuan added.

Departures from Da Lat Station are scheduled at 6:15 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., with return trips from Trai Mat Station departing at 7:15 p.m. and 9:20 p.m.

Ticket prices range from VND 72,000 to 100,000 (US$2.86-4) for one-way travel, according to the VNR.

Da Lat, the capital of Lam Dong province, is renowned for its picturesque setting surrounded by hills, pine forests, lakes, and waterfalls. Dubbed the “city of eternal spring” due to its mild climate, it was established as a French colonial resort town in the early 1900s. Today, remnants of its colonial past blend seamlessly with its unique natural beauty, making it a captivating destination.
