Abha Airport: Saudi Arabia’s First Silent Terminal to be
Abha International Airport has become the first silent airport in Saudi Arabia, eliminating routine announcements to create a quieter, more serene travel experience.
In a move to enhance passenger experience, Abha International Airport has officially become Saudi Arabia’s first silent airport. Announced on Thursday, the airport will no longer broadcast routine announcements such as boarding calls, flight details, or last calls.
This initiative aligns with global practices seen at airports like Singapore Changi, Zurich, Dubai, Amsterdam, and London City. Instead of loudspeaker announcements, passengers will rely on flight display screens and information boards at boarding gates.
To ensure travelers are aware of this change, the airport is launching an awareness campaign featuring multilingual information boards and electronic notices. While the new system aims to create a quieter environment, emergency announcements, such as flight delays or cancellations, will still be made.
Airport management expressed optimism about the initiative, encouraging travelers to stay informed through airline communications and display screens. This effort aims to provide a more peaceful and stress-free experience for all passengers.
Silent airports, by minimizing background noise, allow passengers to concentrate on critical information, significantly improving the travel experience.
