Doha, Qatar: Qatar Tourism is doubling down on its Stopover program, enticing travelers to transform layovers in Qatar into extraordinary adventures brimming with captivating cityscapes, cultural marvels, and exhilarating escapades.

In a recent social media blitz, Qatar Tourism beckoned travelers to elevate their stopovers, unveiling an 11-second teaser spotlighting Qatar’s crown jewels, including Al Zubarah, Old Doha Port, Lusail City, Katara Cultural Village, National Museum of Qatar, The Pearl Island, Corniche, and Hamad International Airport’s The Orchard.

“Elevate your #StopoverInQatar into an exceptional journey teeming with awe-inspiring cityscapes, authentic cultural encounters, and pulse-quickening adventures,” the post declared.

Furthermore, travelers are encouraged to tailor their stopover experiences by booking bespoke packages via the Qatar Airways website or the Visit Qatar app.

This strategic thrust builds upon Discover Qatar’s (DQ) ambitious goal for the 2023/2024 period, aiming to double stopover traveler numbers and solidify Qatar as the ultimate stopover destination.

DQ, the destination management arm of Qatar Airways and a key partner of Qatar Tourism, has been rolling out the “Best Value Stopover in the World” package, treating over 20,000 guests to luxurious 4 or 5-star hotel stays for up to four nights during the fiscal year 2022/2023.

In recent years, Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways have synergized efforts to leverage the Stopover program, aligning with Qatar Tourism’s overarching strategy to bolster tourist footfalls.

Highlighting offerings on the Qatar Airways website, stopover packages start as low as $14 at premium 4-star and 5-star hotels, catering to the eclectic tastes of travelers. With Qatar offering visa-free access to visitors from 102 countries, accessibility is further enhanced for globetrotters.

The national carrier boasts a spectrum of stopover packages ranging from standard to premium and luxury, commencing at $14 for a one-night stay and scaling up to $230 for a lavish four-night retreat in a 5-star hotel.

The Stopover package is applicable for Qatar Airways and code-share confirmed ticket holders with a minimum transit time of 12 hours in Doha, affording up to two bookings per ticket for both outbound and return legs of the journey, elucidated Destination Qatar.

According to the Pacific Asia Travel Association, stopover tourism endeavors to lure immediate incremental arrivals, foster repeat visits, catalyze economic dividends for airlines and local industries, entice travelers who may not have previously considered the destination, and proffer globetrotters the opportunity to explore two destinations for the price of one airfare.
