Malaysia Airlines’ New A330neo to Elevate Economy Class with 4K IFE Screens
Malaysia Airlines is set to revolutionize in-flight entertainment in economy class with the introduction of 13.3″ 4K screens on its new Airbus A330neo, enhancing passenger comfort and connectivity.
Malaysia Airlines is preparing to welcome its new Airbus A330neo aircraft, bringing significant upgrades to both business and economy class cabins. The A330neo, Airbus’ next-generation wide-body aircraft, will replace the current A330-200 and A330-300 models in Malaysia Airlines’ fleet. With 20 A330neo planes ordered, the first three are set to enter service this year.
In an exciting development for economy class passengers, the new A330neo will feature 13.3-inch 4K in-flight entertainment (IFE) displays, a substantial upgrade from the 11-inch 1080p screens on the current A350-900 aircraft. Even the airline’s flagship Business Class Suite currently offers only 1080p resolution on its 24-inch screens.
The economy class on the A330neo will utilize Recaro CL3810 seats, known for their ergonomic design and enhanced support. Passengers will benefit from additional features such as coat hooks, cup holders, and ample stowage space. The cabin will accommodate 269 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, including 24 seats with extra legroom.
Additionally, the new A330neo will offer in-flight WiFi connectivity. Malaysia Airlines has announced that all passengers, including those in economy class, will enjoy complimentary unlimited WiFi, a service already available on selected widebody aircraft like the A350-900 and A330-300.
For business class travelers, the A330neo will feature Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Class seats, complete with individual privacy doors and wireless charging pads. These seats will boast larger 17.3-inch 4K screens, replacing the 16-inch 1080p screens on the A350. The business class cabin will have 28 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring direct aisle access for all passengers.
The Airbus A330neo promises greater efficiency, with up to 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, thanks to its Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines. The aircraft also features redesigned wings for improved aerodynamics and a new Airspace interior for enhanced passenger comfort and space.
Malaysia Airlines is expected to receive its first A330neo in Q3 2024, with the inaugural commercial flight planned for Melbourne, Australia. The A330neo will gradually replace the airline’s existing A330 fleet by 2028.
