Qatar Airways Triumphs as World’s Best Airline 2024
Qatar Airways has been crowned the World’s Best Airline at the 2024 World Airline Awards, marking its eighth win. The airline also earned top accolades for its Business Class and Middle Eastern service.
Qatar Airways has secured the prestigious title of the World’s Best Airline at the 2024 World Airline Awards. This marks the airline’s eighth triumph in the award’s 25-year history. The announcement was made during a grand ceremony on June 24, 2024, at the Fairmont Windsor Park, near London Heathrow Airport. The event saw over 325 attendees, including numerous airline CEOs, Presidents, and senior management, as well as many uniformed airline staff proudly representing their brands.
The World Airline Awards, often dubbed the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” began in 1999. They are known for their independence and impartiality, with all costs covered by the organisers, Skytrax.
Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, expressed pride in the achievement, attributing it to the dedication and hard work of the airline’s team. The airline also won awards for the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best Business Class Lounge, and the Best Airline in the Middle East.
Singapore Airlines, the 2023 winner, was ranked second, followed by Emirates in third place, ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth, and Cathay Pacific in fifth. Singapore Airlines was also recognized for the World’s Best Cabin Staff and the World’s Best First Class, in addition to being named the Best Airline in Asia.
ANA All Nippon Airways received accolades for the World’s Best Airport Services and the Best Airline Staff Service in Asia, ranking fourth globally.
Saudi Arabian Airlines was named the World’s Most Improved Airline, with STARLUX Airlines and PLAY taking second and third places respectively. AirAsia continued its streak as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, a title it has held since 2010, while Scoot was awarded the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline.
Volotea was recognized as the Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe, followed by Transavia France and Vueling. British Airways won the World’s Most Family Friendly Airline award, praised for its comprehensive family services.
Plaza Premium Lounge at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport was named the World’s Best Independent Airport Lounge, and Cathay Pacific received the award for the World’s Best Economy Class, with Japan Airlines winning the World’s Best Premium Economy Class.
Bangkok Airways retained the title of the World’s Best Regional Airline, and Vistara was named the Best Airline in India/South Asia, also winning Best Airline Staff Service in the region. Fiji Airways was awarded Best Airline in Australia/Pacific and Best Airline Staff Service in the region.
In North America, Delta Air Lines was named the Best Airline, also winning Best Airline Staff Service. Allegiant Air was recognized as the Best Low-Cost Airline in North America. Air Transat was awarded the World’s Best Leisure Airline.
Ethiopian Airlines won Best Airline in Africa for the sixth consecutive year, Turkish Airlines was named Best Airline in Europe and Best Business Class Catering, and Hainan Airlines was awarded Best Airline in China. airBaltic won Best Airline in Eastern Europe.
Air France received multiple awards for the World’s Best First Class Catering, Best First Class Lounge Dining, and Best Airline in Western Europe. Star Alliance was named the World’s Best Airline Alliance and Best Airline Alliance Lounge for its Paris CDG Airport lounge.
