SWISS Names Jens Fehlinger New CEO Amid Strategic Leadership Shift

SWISS Airlines has appointed Jens Fehlinger as its new CEO, tapping into his strategic insights gained from years at Lufthansa Group. Fehlinger will take charge from October 1, 2024, succeeding Dieter Vranckx, who transitions to the Lufthansa Group Executive Board in July.

SWISS International Airlines has announced Jens Fehlinger as its new CEO, effective October 1, 2024. Fehlinger, 43, brings extensive experience from his leadership roles within the Lufthansa Group, including crisis management and airline restructuring.

Fehlinger’s career trajectory underscores his strategic acumen and operational expertise, crucial for leading SWISS through its next phase of growth. His appointment follows the departure of Dieter Vranckx, who transitions to the Lufthansa Group Executive Board starting July 1, 2024. During this interim period, Heike Birlenbach, SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, will serve as the acting CEO.

Having studied aviation engineering and management in Bremen, Germany, and earned an Executive MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, Fehlinger is well-prepared to steer SWISS towards sustained success. Reto Francioni, Chairman of the SWISS Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Fehlinger’s ability to uphold SWISS’s exceptional standards and strengthen its position in the global aviation market.
