Mike Duggan Appointed Head of Cargo at Oman Air
Oman Air appoints industry veteran Mike Duggan as head of cargo to spearhead its expanding air cargo operations, following the launch of its first freighter service.
Oman Air, headquartered in Muscat, has appointed Mike Duggan as its new head of cargo as part of a strategic effort to bolster its air cargo operations following the successful delivery of its first freighter in December.
Duggan brings over 20 years of extensive experience in air cargo business development, having collaborated with more than 10 prominent companies across the global aviation sector. His appointment, effective from last month as per his LinkedIn profile, underscores Oman Air’s commitment to enhancing its cargo capabilities and expanding its market presence.
Prior to joining Oman Air, Duggan served as the principal of Maeshe Aviation Services, based in London, where he played a pivotal role in business development and project consultancy across various facets of the aviation industry, including airfreight, logistics, and supply chain management. His tenure at Maeshe Aviation spanned four years, with an earlier stint from 2017 to 2018, emphasizing his sustained dedication to advancing industry standards.
At Eastern Airlines, Duggan served as the director of international cargo business development, where he excelled in optimizing cargo sales and cultivating strategic alliances across key global markets such as South America, China, and Europe. His expertise in freighter aircraft business development was particularly instrumental, involving the strategic sourcing of conversion aircraft and the negotiation of project agreements with leading express operators and e-commerce enterprises.
Duggan’s illustrious career also includes senior leadership roles such as senior vice president of global airfreight at TVS-Asianics Supply Chain Solutions and director of cargo charters and strategic partnerships at Saudia Cargo, where he contributed significantly to enhancing operational efficiencies and fostering collaborative partnerships within the air cargo industry.
In a significant milestone for Oman Air, the airline launched its inaugural freighter service in December 2023, connecting Muscat International Airport to GMR Hyderabad International Airport in India. This milestone was facilitated by the deployment of the airline’s newly acquired 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), marking a strategic expansion into dedicated cargo operations to meet growing demand in the regionZ
