Despite space constraints at Humberto Delgado Airport, TAP President Luís Rodrigues anticipates a smooth summer for the airline in 2024, although he acknowledges that occasional cancellations might occur. Rodrigues remains optimistic about TAP’s ability to handle the peak travel season, emphasizing the company’s preparedness and collaboration with airport authorities to ensure minimal disruptions.

“Airlines are never quiet in the summer,” said Rodrigues during the 27th world conference of the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) in Lisbon. He expressed confidence in the efforts made to ensure a peaceful summer, noting that while occasional cancellations may happen, the overall situation appears normal.

Regarding the ongoing discussion of TAP’s partial privatisation, Rodrigues refrained from commenting, mentioning only that updates are expected in September. He assured that he has not had recent discussions with the government on this matter.

Rodrigues highlighted the various measures TAP has implemented to mitigate potential disruptions during the summer travel rush. These include optimizing flight schedules, increasing staffing levels, and enhancing coordination with ground services. “We have taken a proactive approach to anticipate and address any issues that may arise,” he stated. “Our goal is to provide passengers with a reliable and pleasant travel experience, even during the busiest times.”
