SATS (Singapore Airport Terminal Services), the Singaporean airport service company that handles the main ground handling and in-flight catering service, is set to restructure its Gateway Services business, forming two new units, the Singapore Hub and Gateway Services Asia-Pacific, starting from October 1st. This move aims to bolster its role in Singapore’s aviation sector while expanding its reach across the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently, Sats’ Gateway Services encompasses end-to-end ground handling, including passenger, baggage, aircraft, security, and cargo handling services crucial for seamless airport operations. The restructuring highlights Sats’ commitment to maintaining Singapore as a leading aviation hub and capturing growth opportunities abroad.

The Singapore Hub will focus on supporting the needs of Singapore’s Air Hub, which includes Changi Airport and Seletar Airport, along with their associated aviation industries. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency, performance, and user experience at Singapore’s airports. Henry Low, currently Sats COO, will become the CEO of Singapore Hub.

Conversely, Gateway Services Asia-Pacific will aim to grow Sats’ market share across the region. This unit will oversee operations at overseas airports and manage Sats’ network of international stations through subsidiaries, joint ventures, and associates. Bob Chi, currently the CEO of Gateway Services, will lead this unit as Gateway Services Asia-Pacific CEO.
