Emirates SkyCargo has placed a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2026. This US$ 1 billion investment will expand the airline’s total fleet to 315 wide-body aircraft.

During the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo reported exceptional performance, with load factors and tonnages exceeding pre-pandemic levels. The new freighters will boost available main deck cargo capacity by 30%, enabling the airline to better serve key markets and global customers.

Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, highlighted the growing demand for Emirates’ services, driven by Dubai’s Economic Agenda to double foreign trade. He emphasized that the new Boeing 777 freighters are crucial for meeting customer demand and achieving long-term strategic growth.

The airline’s future plans include a comprehensive review of its freighter fleet to ensure it remains equipped to meet evolving market demands. Emirates SkyCargo will retire older freighters as new ones are delivered, maintaining one of the youngest and most efficient fleets.

By the end of 2025, Emirates SkyCargo’s fleet will include 17 freighters, supported by 10 converted 777-300ERs. The division will continue to leverage the Emirates passenger fleet to ensure the fast and efficient movement of goods globally, offering flexibility with a diverse fleet that includes 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s.
