Etihad and Batik Air Partner for Expanded Travel Options
Etihad Airways and Batik Air have launched a new codeshare agreement, enhancing connectivity to key destinations in Malaysia and beyond, starting July 16.
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, and Malaysia’s Batik Air have announced a new codeshare partnership to enhance travel options for passengers. This collaboration allows seamless connections to five Malaysian destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu, on a single ticket. Travelers from Abu Dhabi can now reach Johor Bahru and Tawau, as well as three international destinations: Hanoi, Da Nang, and Perth.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad, highlighted that this partnership significantly expands their codeshare network, providing passengers with greater access to key Malaysian locations. “This collaboration significantly enhances our codeshare network, offering travelers seamless access to five key destinations in Malaysia,” he said. Additionally, travelers can look forward to upcoming destinations like Medan and Hong Kong, which will soon be added to the codeshare network, further broadening travel options.
Batik Air CEO Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy expressed his excitement about establishing Kuala Lumpur International Airport as a transit hub, enhancing connectivity for Etihad passengers. “We aim to establish Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as a transit hub, further enhancing Etihad’s connectivity for its passengers, ensuring a more comprehensive and convenient travel experience,” he said. This partnership not only provides more choices for Malaysian travelers but also enables smoother transitions through KUL to reach various destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond.
The new codeshare is already in operation for flights starting July 16, marking Etihad’s 38th codeshare partnership. By integrating Batik Air’s network, Etihad passengers can enjoy more diverse travel itineraries, reinforcing Etihad’s position as a major player in the global aviation market. This strategic move underscores the airline’s commitment to offering enhanced travel experiences and greater flexibility to its customers.
