ITA Airways and Croatia Airlines Boost Connectivity
ITA Airways and Croatia Airlines expand their codeshare partnership, enhancing connectivity between Italy and Croatia with seamless travel options for business and leisure travelers.
Italy’s national carrier, ITA Airways, and Croatia Airlines are expanding their codeshare partnership, enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers. This expansion follows the European Commission’s approval of Lufthansa’s acquisition of a 41% stake in ITA, paving the way for ITA’s accession to Star Alliance.
Under the new agreement, Croatia Airlines will add its designator code and flight numbers to ITA Airways’ services between Rome Fiumicino and the Italian cities of Palermo, Bologna, Florence, and Naples. “This strengthened codeshare agreement will offer both business and leisure travelers more choices and convenience when flying within the networks of both airlines,” ITA Airways stated. “Italy will be more accessible to Croatia Airlines’ customers, thanks to seamless connections from Rome to the listed domestic destinations. Similarly, ITA Airways will benefit from increased traffic flows between Italy and Croatia.”
This expansion marks a significant step in ITA Airways’ growth strategy, leveraging the synergies with Croatia Airlines to provide a more integrated travel experience. By connecting more destinations within Italy to Croatia Airlines’ network, both carriers aim to enhance their market presence and attract a broader customer base. The collaboration also underscores the strategic importance of Italy-Croatia routes for both leisure and business travel.
Passengers can expect a seamless travel experience with coordinated schedules, streamlined check-in processes, and smoother connections. The codeshare agreement not only simplifies travel plans but also offers passengers the advantage of earning frequent flyer miles across both airlines’ loyalty programs. This increased flexibility and connectivity are anticipated to drive passenger growth and boost tourism between the two countries.
Looking ahead, ITA Airways and Croatia Airlines plan to explore further opportunities for cooperation, including joint marketing initiatives and shared services. The successful expansion of their codeshare partnership sets a precedent for future collaborations, potentially involving additional destinations and more extensive network integration. This partnership represents a forward-thinking approach to meeting the evolving demands of modern air travel.
ITA already codeshares on Croatia Airlines’ flights between Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, and Rome. The newly expanded codeshare flights are available for booking on the airlines’ respective websites.
