Honeywell has entered into a long-term agreement with Air India Limited for comprehensive Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) aftermarket support, covering both current and new fleets.

Honeywell has signed a long-term agreement with Air India Limited, a Tata Group enterprise and India’s leading global airline, to provide aftermarket support for Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) across Air India’s fleet. This agreement ensures high aircraft dispatch reliability, enhanced fleet availability, and reduced unplanned maintenance costs.

APUs are essential for providing electrical power and air conditioning while aircraft are on the ground, ensuring passenger comfort and supplying air before the main engines are started. As part of Honeywell’s broader range of aviation technologies, this agreement aligns with global trends in automation and energy transition.

Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened collaboration with Air India, highlighting Honeywell’s commitment to supporting the airline’s innovation and growth. The partnership, which has spanned over 30 years, exemplifies Honeywell’s pivotal role in advancing India’s aviation sector through cutting-edge technology.

With the rising demand for air travel, the need for reliable aftermarket services is increasing. Honeywell’s support will cover Air India’s fleet of more than 300 aircraft, including legacy A320s, B777s, and new B737-8s, with comprehensive maintenance for Honeywell’s 131-9A, 131-9B, and 331-500 series APUs. Honeywell’s global service network ensures optimal performance and minimal operational disruptions.

Sisira Kanta Dash, Air India’s Chief Technical Officer, celebrated the milestone, emphasizing the agreement’s role in achieving efficient, reliable operations with maximized fleet availability. Honeywell’s advanced technology services are expected to help Air India meet its customers’ needs more effectively.

With over seven decades of experience and more than 100,000 gas turbine APUs produced, Honeywell is a leader in auxiliary power solutions. Known for their reliability, Honeywell’s APUs enhance flight safety, operational dependability, and fuel efficiency. Honeywell also provides a global support network with integrated service solutions to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
