Malaysia Airlines and Firefly Secure IATA Safety Accreditation
Malaysia Airlines and Firefly have achieved IATA’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) accreditation, reflecting their commitment to global safety standards and operational excellence.
Malaysia Aviation Group’s subsidiary airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, have achieved significant milestones in operational safety by securing registration with the International Air Transportation Association’s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) in July 2024. This marks the tenth consecutive year of accreditation for Malaysia Airlines and the inaugural audit for Firefly as an IOSA-registered airline, underscoring MAG’s dedication to maintaining global safety standards.
Effective immediately and valid until 2026, the IOSA registration follows thorough audits conducted in January and February 2024. These audits covered eight critical operational areas, including organization and safety management systems, flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and cargo operations.
For Firefly, this initial registration involved a conventional audit by an IATA-accredited organization, while Malaysia Airlines underwent a risk-based IOSA (RBI) audit tailored to its specific safety risks. This comprehensive evaluation engaged all levels of employees, ensuring the thorough implementation of safety policies across the organization.
Since its first IOSA audit in 2005, Malaysia Airlines has consistently maintained its active membership with IATA and the Oneworld alliance, which require such accreditation. The IOSA programme remains the industry benchmark for safety auditing, contributing to enhanced safety performance and cost efficiencies for airlines worldwide.
