Sri Lanka Tourism Board Wins Global Excellence Award
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau clinches ‘Best International Tourism Board’ at the Global Tourism Awards 2024, recognizing its outstanding contribution to global tourism.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has been honored with the “Best International Tourism Board” award at the Global Tourism Awards 2024, hosted in New Delhi, India. This accolade, presented by Travel World Online, recognizes organizations that have significantly contributed to the advancement of the global tourism industry.
Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of SLTPB, accepted the award in the presence of Harin Fernando, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Tourism, Lands, Sports, and Youth Affairs, who served as the Guest of Honour at the event. The selection process was led by a distinguished jury chaired by Nakul Anand, the former Executive Director of ITC.
Nalin Perera, Managing Director of SLTPB, expressed gratitude for the recognition, attributing the award to the bureau’s relentless efforts to promote Sri Lanka as a top-tier travel destination. Perera acknowledged the role of international media, travel influencers, and industry stakeholders in helping SLTPB achieve this milestone.
Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has experienced remarkable growth, with over 1.19 million tourists visiting by the end of July 2024, representing a 56% increase from the previous year. The bureau remains optimistic about reaching its goal of 2.3 million visitors by year-end.
