Air Astra Achieves Global Safety Milestone
Air Astra has become Bangladesh’s youngest airline to receive IOSA certification, reaching this global safety benchmark just 20 months after its commercial debut. The airline operates 14 daily flights with a modern fleet of ATR72-600 aircraft.
Air Astra has secured the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration, becoming the youngest airline in Bangladesh to achieve this global safety milestone. This accomplishment comes just 20 months after the airline launched its commercial operations, positioning Air Astra not only as the youngest IOSA-certified airline in Bangladesh but also among the youngest worldwide.
The audit, conducted by the U.S.-based organization Argus-PROS in September 2023, was followed by a comprehensive quality assessment by IATA, reaffirming Air Astra’s commitment to maintaining rigorous safety standards.
Commenting on this achievement, Air Astra’s CEO, Imran Asif, emphasized the airline’s dedication to passenger safety, stating, “Securing IOSA registration so early in our operations highlights our unwavering commitment to flawless safety, ensuring that every passenger can travel with complete confidence.”
Air Astra currently operates 14 daily flights from Dhaka to key destinations such as Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Saidpur, and Sylhet, utilizing a fleet of four ATR72-600 aircraft—recognized for their safety and modern design.
