United Airlines is gearing up for a major upgrade, promising free high-speed Starlink satellite Internet across its entire fleet, starting in 2025. This bold move makes United the largest airline to partner with SpaceX’s Starlink, offering its passengers fast, free Wi-Fi during flights.

United Airlines’ partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink marks a significant step forward in the airline industry’s move towards more connected and tech-driven experiences. By offering free high-speed satellite Internet, United is not only enhancing the passenger experience but also setting a new standard for in-flight connectivity. The integration of Starlink’s advanced satellite technology will ensure passengers can stream videos, browse the web, and remain connected with ease, even during long international flights. This advancement positions United as a leader in airline innovation, pushing its competitors to rethink their in-flight service offerings.

The airline plans to retrofit over 1,000 planes, with the rollout beginning early next year. The retrofits include larger seatback screens and charging outlets, aiming to enhance in-flight entertainment. Economy seats will feature 10-inch screens, while First Class will see 13-inch displays. Polaris business class passengers will enjoy 16-inch HD touch screens.

In addition to Internet access, the new interior designs will feature Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, and expanded overhead luggage bins. This transformation, while taking time to complete, will enable passengers to enjoy seamless online experiences from 35,000 feet, no matter where they fly.

According to United’s CEO Scott Kirby, this upgrade will allow passengers to stay connected, stream, and work just like they would on the ground.
