Brazil’s First Pilotless Air Taxi Takes Flight
EHang’s autonomous flying taxi, the EH216-S, completed its first test flight in Brazil, setting the stage for future urban air mobility developments in partnership with local aviation authorities.
EHang‘s EH216-S, a fully autonomous electric aerial vehicle (EAV), made its debut flight in Brazil, marking the first pilotless flying taxi trial in the country. The test flight took place near Sao Paulo, in collaboration with local operator Gohobby Future Technologies.
This milestone signals the beginning of a series of test flights, conducted in partnership with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Airspace Control Department (DECEA). EHang’s EH216-S received the Experimental Flight Authorization Certificate, which allows the company to demonstrate its advanced aerial technologies, including its cluster management system designed to enable efficient urban air mobility (UAM) operations across Brazil.
The initiative is set to advance the development of unmanned traffic management systems for UAM, positioning Brazil as a potential leader in sustainable and innovative air transport solutions. The EH216-S can autonomously carry two passengers and is part of EHang’s broader vision for eco-friendly, urban transportation.
Globally, EHang has completed over 50,000 flights in 17 countries and continues to expand its portfolio of eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) vehicles for various sectors, including tourism, firefighting, and logistics.
