Airbus has made a strategic move to reinforce its position in India by opening a new headquarters for its India and South Asia operations. The state-of-the-art facility, located at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, was inaugurated with great fanfare, marking a major step forward for Airbus’s regional ambitions.

The ceremony was attended by Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, the Minister of Civil Aviation for India, along with Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, and Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia. The new headquarters signifies Airbus’s commitment to the Indian aerospace and defense sectors, both in terms of business development and manufacturing.

The headquarters brings together Airbus’s three main business arms: Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters, and Defence and Space. This central hub places Airbus at the heart of India’s bustling aviation landscape, offering immediate proximity to customers in the region. Among the building’s facilities is a pilot and maintenance training center, fitted with four A320neo Full-Flight Simulators (FFS), making it an ideal location for training pilots who can reach the facility directly from the airport.

Beyond pilot training, Airbus’s new HQ underscores its industrial goals in India, aimed at enhancing the nation’s aerospace ecosystem. These include assembly, manufacturing, design, innovation, and training capabilities to support Airbus’s growth in India and across South Asia. Airbus already sources more than €1 billion in products and services from its Indian supply chain, creating thousands of jobs and supporting a vital link in the global aerospace supply chain.

The India HQ also includes plans for the commissioning of two final assembly lines: one for the C295 military transporter and another for H125 helicopters. The C295 line will soon be officially commissioned in a ceremony led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, symbolizing Airbus’s international collaborations.

With extensive engineering and digital centers in Bengaluru supporting global Airbus programs, Airbus is well-positioned to play a leading role in India’s aviation future. The new headquarters is a powerful reminder of Airbus’s increasing influence and long-term commitment to India’s growing aerospace sector.
