Ethiopian Airlines has taken a major step in expanding its fleet by receiving its first Airbus A350-1000, marking a significant milestone as the initial operator of this largest model on the African continent. The airline plans to add three more A350-1000s and has 11 more A350-900s on order.
Previously, Ethiopian converted four of its A350-900 orders to the larger -1000 variant, showing strategic commitment to enhancing its long-haul capabilities. The newly received aircraft (registered ET-BAW) is set up with 395 seats, featuring a business-class cabin and state-of-the-art HBCplus satellite connectivity for improved passenger experience.
Ethiopian Airlines intends to deploy this larger aircraft on key international routes, including destinations such as Paris, Frankfurt, London, and Washington, DC. As of the end of September, Airbus had delivered 88 out of 302 A350-1000 orders globally.
