The Liberty flying car, developed by Dutch company Pal-V, has reached a critical milestone, moving closer to commercialization with the completion of rotor development in collaboration with the Netherlands Aerospace Center (NLR).

Designed as a groundbreaking FlyDrive vehicle, Liberty combines the functionality of a gyroplane with a conventional car, offering a seamless transition between driving and flying. The rotor blades, essential for flight, have been engineered to deliver 20% greater efficiency while remaining lightweight and foldable.

Liberty’s two-seat design allows it to cruise at 100 mph in the air and reach altitudes of 11,000 feet. On the road, it offers an impressive driving range of up to 817 miles on a single tank, doubling with one fuel stop. Transitioning between flight and drive modes takes just minutes, adding to its versatility.

With this milestone, Pal-V is set to begin the final stages of air certification and ramp up production at its facility in the Netherlands. Pre-orders for Liberty are already robust, with enough demand to cover the first three years of production. This includes a landmark agreement with Aviterra to deploy over 100 units in the Middle East and Africa.

Pal-V also offers customers the opportunity to train for a private pilot’s license through its FlyDrive Academy, ensuring they are ready to experience the world’s first true flying car when it finally hits the market.
