Air India’s Winter Plan: Tackling Fog With Precision
Air India enhances flight schedules, boosts CAT-III certified pilot numbers, and launches passenger-friendly initiatives to combat winter fog disruptions.
As the winter season approaches, Air India has rolled out an extensive plan to tackle disruptions caused by dense fog and low visibility, especially in Northern India. The airline has optimized its flight schedules, increased the number of CAT-III certified pilots, and introduced passenger-friendly measures to mitigate potential delays.
Focusing on long-haul and metro flights, Air India has strategically reduced the impact of weather-related disruptions on critical routes. The airline’s CAT-III certified pilots, trained to handle landings in visibility as low as 50 meters, will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational safety during the fog season from December 10 to February 10.
In addition to scheduling improvements, Air India is deploying extra ground staff at key airports, particularly at locations prone to flight diversions. Travelers will also benefit from the airline’s ‘fog care initiative,’ which includes proactive notifications about delays, complimentary rescheduling, and refunds.
With these measures, Air India aims to provide a seamless travel experience during the challenging winter months while upholding the highest standards of safety and reliability.
