The aviation industry is witnessing a surge in demand for pilots globally, particularly in the UAE, driven by the booming aviation and tourism sectors. Capt Abdulla Al Hammadi, Vice President of the Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA), highlighted the significant growth in travel and the expansion of aviation infrastructure in the region as key factors behind this demand.

According to industry experts, including Oliver Wyman, the global shortage of pilots could reach 80,000 by 2032, with the Middle East expected to face a deficit of around 18,000 pilots. This situation underscores the growing opportunities for aspiring aviators, making aviation one of the most dynamic industries to join today.

The Emirates Flight Training Academy, which offers comprehensive pilot training programs, has already graduated over 270 cadets since its inception. The training includes everything from accommodation and meals to uniforms and certification, ensuring that students are well-prepared for a successful aviation career. The academy is also expanding its offerings with an Advanced Diploma in Pilot Licensing Training (Aeroplane), accredited by the UAE National Qualifications Centre.

Emirates, Dubai’s flagship carrier, offers a highly attractive salary package for newly trained pilots. First officers can earn between Dh26,000 and Dh34,000 monthly, along with benefits like accommodation, education allowances, and annual leave. This compensation package has made Emirates one of the most sought-after employers in the aviation sector.

Recently, 85 cadets graduated from the Emirates Flight Training Academy, including 67 UAE nationals and 18 international students. These graduates completed over 1,100 hours of ground training and 270 hours of flight training, setting the stage for successful careers in aviation.

As the demand for pilots continues to grow, both regionally and globally, the aviation industry is expected to remain one of the most exciting and rewarding career paths for young professionals.
