American Airlines is set to resume its longest domestic flight in late 2025, bringing back the Chicago O’Hare to Honolulu route after a nearly four-year hiatus. This route, spanning 4,243 miles, will surpass the current longest domestic flight from Dallas/Fort Worth to Honolulu, which measures 3,784 miles. Although American Airlines has not yet confirmed flight frequency details, it has revealed that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will be deployed on this route.
The Chicago-to-Honolulu route was previously operated daily before it was paused in September 2021. Currently, United Airlines serves this route up to two times a day.
This return is part of American Airlines’ ongoing effort to expand its services at Chicago O’Hare Airport. In recent months, the airline has introduced new international flights, including destinations like Madrid and Naples, Italy. American Airlines plans to operate up to 480 daily flights from O’Hare this summer, marking a 25% growth in capacity compared to the previous year.
