Swiss International Air Lines is expanding its fleet by adding five more Airbus A350-900s, bringing its total commitment to 10 of the long-haul twinjets. This move, announced as part of the airline’s continued modernization strategy, will see the additional aircraft enter service by 2027.
Originally, Swiss revealed plans to take five A350-900s in late 2022, with the first of these aircraft set to arrive in the summer of 2025. The new fleet of A350s will replace older Airbus A340-300s, marking a major step toward modernizing their long-haul operations.
CEO Jens Fehlinger stated that the A350s are a key investment in ensuring Swiss meets the high expectations of its passengers, while also making the airline’s fleet more sustainable and comfortable. The aircraft will feature a new cabin interior, branded ‘Swiss Senses,’ designed to elevate the passenger experience with greater modernity and in-flight comfort.
The A350-900s are part of a broader order by Lufthansa Group, and all 10 aircraft are expected to be operational by 2031. The expansion aligns with Swiss’s commitment to enhancing both customer satisfaction and sustainability.
