Doroni Aerospace has taken a significant step toward advancing personal electric aviation by securing agreements worth up to $180 million to support the production of its H1-X eVTOL aircraft. The Florida-based company has finalized a $30 million investment with Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Aero Industries, with an additional $150 million under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a manufacturing hub in the region.

The agreements, which also involve Saudi Arabia’s National Industrial Development Center, aim to localize part of the H1-X’s production while maintaining the core manufacturing operations in the United States. The move highlights the growing interest in electric aircraft across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), a region increasingly investing in next-generation aviation technologies.

Doroni’s H1-X is a compact, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for personal and recreational use. Featuring eight vertical electric motors and two rear-mounted pusher propellers, it is engineered for simple operation via a single joystick and touchscreen interface. The aircraft is envisioned to be stored in a two-car garage, making it accessible for private owners.

Unlike many eVTOL developers focused on urban air mobility and air taxi services, Doroni aims to certify the H1-X under the FAA’s proposed Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule. This approach could streamline the pilot training process and bring the aircraft to market faster compared to traditional type certification.

The company has already secured around 500 preorders, with several customers placing deposits. While initial production will cater to private users, future iterations of the H1-X may expand into broader applications.

As interest in electric aviation accelerates globally, Doroni’s latest agreements reinforce its position as a key player in the evolution of personal flight. With plans to establish dual manufacturing sites in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, the company is set to make flying cars a closer reality for consumers.
