flydubai has launched a new Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme aimed at nurturing the next generation of commercial airline pilots. The initiative targets individuals over the age of 17 who have completed high school, providing them with a direct pathway into the cockpit of a Boeing 737.

In partnership with global flight training organizations, the comprehensive programme covers ground school, simulator instruction, in-air training, and final integration into flydubai’s flight operations. Trainees who successfully complete the programme will be qualified as second officers operating the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet.

The training journey spans approximately 18 to 24 months and includes a series of rigorous screening processes, both online and in person. These assessments test aptitude, cognitive and psychomotor skills, and include mandatory medical evaluations. The first group of cadets is expected to begin training in late 2025.

Captain Ahmad Bin Huzaim, SVP of Flight Operations, emphasized that the programme is designed for passionate aviation aspirants with no prior flying experience. In addition to academic merit, the programme values leadership, teamwork, and decisiveness—qualities essential to modern airline pilots.

CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith highlighted the importance of the initiative in supporting Dubai’s growth as a global aviation hub. The programme is open to Emirati nationals, residents, and international applicants, creating opportunities for aspiring pilots to launch their careers in one of the world’s most dynamic aviation environments.

With an expanding network of 130+ destinations and more than 155 Boeing aircraft on order, flydubai offers a promising future for those entering the cockpit through this structured Multi-Pilot License (MPL) programme.
