Saudi Aviation Fines Soar to $5M in 2024
Saudi Arabia imposed $5 million in aviation-related fines in 2024, targeting airlines, individuals, and companies for regulatory violations, underscoring its commitment to passenger safety and compliance.

In 2024, Saudi Arabia’s aviation regulator issued 542 fines amounting to SR18.8 million ($5 million) for breaches of civil aviation laws and regulations.
Airlines were penalized SR3.65 million for 111 violations, including non-compliance with the advance passenger information system and time-slot regulations. Additionally, nine violations incurred fines of SR290,000.
Passenger rights violations topped the list, with 305 incidents resulting in penalties exceeding SR14.4 million. Licensed companies were fined SR175,000 for 17 cases of non-compliance with aviation regulations.
The report also revealed fines against individuals: SR75,000 for 15 cases of unauthorized drone use, SR79,200 for 74 cases of non-compliance with safety instructions or onboard misconduct, and SR3,000 for three cases of trespassing in restricted airport areas. Unauthorized glider operations accounted for SR155,000 in fines across six violations.
The authority reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulations, protecting passenger rights, and improving the air travel experience in the Kingdom.
